Area Dads Benefit from Group Designed just for Them!

Forest City, NC  – When we think of groups that support parents, we typically think of a group for mothers, but a group just for dads?  Family Resources of Rutherford County is now offering an evening Circle of Parents group designed just for dads who have at least one child from birth to five years old.

The free group meets at the Clara Allen Center weekly, on Thursday evenings at 6 pm, and provides dads the chance to connect with one another.  While the dads spend time discussing the challenges and success they face as parents, free on-site childcare for ages 6 weeks to 5 years old is available if needed.

“We are excited to offer dads the chance to get out and decompress with other dads,” said Vanessa Parton, Director of Family Support Services, “They can relax, discuss issues that are important to them, and form meaningful relationships, knowing their children are having fun and being cared for.”

The Circle of Parents program is funded by the Partnership for Children of the Foothills and provided through Family Resources of Rutherford County.

“It’s our hope that area families will know we are here to help support them on this parenting journey,” said Parton. “Having a listening ear and change to hear another parent’s approach to a situation you are dealing with at home can be so helpful, and that’s why these groups are so important.”
