Partnership for Children of the Foothills and KidSenses Museum Partner to Present “Lucky to Read” Event

Rutherfordton, NC – March’s Fabulous Free Friday at the KidSenses Children’s Interactive Museum in Rutherfordton was designed to help children foster a love of reading and realize just how “lucky” it is to be able to read and receive free books.

The purpose of the outreach by the Partnership for Children of the Foothills (PFC) was to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of reading aloud to their child for just 15 minutes a day and encourage enrollment in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides children from birth through age five a free book delivered to their home each month.

The activities of the day involved reading aloud St. Patrick’s Day-themed books, games of luck, rainbow crafts, and silly shenanigans. The museum reported more than 190 participants. Nearly 50 children went home with a gift bag from PFC, and three families signed up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

If you missed out on all the fun and live in McDowell, Polk or Rutherford counties, you can still register your child (birth through age five) for the free monthly books available through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Visit us online at www.PFCFoothills.org/Dolly today.
